Sourav Das
I’m an open source program and operations professional, I work at the intersection of open source, programs and operations management helping projects, foundations and the people behind them build sustainable and lasting impact. Currently, I’m building Fosstree, an initiative focused on making open source projects and communities more sustainable and accessible. My goal is to help maintainers, contributors, and organizations create long-term value and sustainibility for the open source ecosystem.
Previously, I worked at Open Source Collective, I was part of the operations team, contributed to support nearly 3000+ of open source projects including foundations, OSPOs, companies through nonprofit and financial operations, support, grant administration and other capacities. Over the years, I helped administer and manage grants and funding programs supporting open source projects, including projects funded through the Sovereign Tech Agency, GitHub sponsors, Google’s open source programs etc. As a seasoned program manager, I have led many programs for startups and nonprofits. I also worked at OpenMined, where I led the Private AI mentorship program at OpenMined that launched the Private AI Series in collaboration with PyTorch, Facebook AI, Future of Humanity Institute (University of Oxford), and the United Nations Global Working Group on Big Data.
Alongside my professional work, I’m a part-time Psychology student at JSPC, where I’m exploring topics related to brain and behaviour, congnition, environmental psychology and decision making. I also enjoy learning about AI, security and how technology shapes communities.

Beyond Work
Outside of work and study, I’m an avid learner who enjoys exploring new ideas, watching movies, and experimenting with photography. I also love backpacking and have visited nearly 10 countries, always looking for new cultures, perspectives, and experiences.
And yes, I have a cream Golden Retriever named Scooby, who occasionally supervises my work from a safe distance!
